Abstract

Education stands as a cornerstone in societal development, with curriculum playing a pivotal role in shaping individuals to meet the evolving needs of the community. The historical perception of curriculum as a mere vessel for instructional content has evolved into a comprehensive framework encompassing skills, attitudes, values, and competences. This abstract traces the transformation of curriculum discourse, shedding light on the contemporary shift from a narrow focus on content to a holistic approach.Critiquing traditional curriculum designs that prioritize content over pedagogical strategies, akin to examination syllabuses such as those by examination bodies like WEAC, the abstract advocates for a broader perspective. It underscores the imperative for modern curricula to transcend content dissemination and prioritize holistic educational outcomes. The emphasis is on aligning curriculum development with societal needs and adopting innovative instructional approaches to foster meaningful learning experiences. The abstract highlights the necessity for ongoing dialogue and reflection within the educational community to ensure curricular practices remain responsive, relevant, and transformative. It is a call to action for educators and curriculum developers to continually adapt to the dynamic needs of society. By fostering an environment of continual innovation and responsiveness, education can fulfill its role as a catalyst for societal advancement.
