Abstract

The recruitment and retention of qualified academic staff are imperative for the provision of high-quality education in healthcare and nursing institutions. However, the transition from expert clinician to novice academic in adult nursing settings poses unique challenges (McArthur-Rouse, 2008). Effective support and mentorship are essential to facilitate a seamless transition into academia (Thomas et al., 2015).

This abstract highlights the utilization of the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) Quality Improvement (QI) cycle to develop a structured induction and orientation program within the School of Nursing and Health Care Leadership. By employing this framework, the program aims to ensure a smooth introduction to academia for new faculty members, addressing the specific needs and challenges they may encounter during the transition process.
